Women’s Lacrosse Falls To In-State Rival Southern Connecticut 14-6

Polaski Scores Three Goals For Eagles

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) recorded her third consecutive hat trick but the Post University women's lacrosse team fell to Southern Connecticut 14-6 in a non-conference game on Tuesday night. The Eagles currently sit at 2-5 overall on the season.
 
The Owls jumped in front early and never looked back as they opened up a 10-0 lead in the first half. Sophomore Isatu Bangura (Elmont, N.Y.) got the Eagles on the board with 1:09 remaining in the half on free-position goal. Post trailed 11-1 at the break.
 
Both teams were held scoreless throughout most of the second half until Polaski scored her first goal with 11:01 left on a pass from senior Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.). Polaski and junior Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) each scored shorthanded goals down the stretch as Post trailed 12-5 with 2:24 left. Freshman Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) scored her 12th goal of the season with 1:16 remaining for the final margin.
 
Post forced the Owls into 14 turnovers and caused 11 of them. Polaski and sophomore Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) combined to cause seven turnovers. The Eagles picked up 17 ground balls, led by Polaski with seven. Senior Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) made 13 saves on the day.
 
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday, March 27 at Caldwell. Opening draw is set for noon.
