WATERBURY, Conn. – Behind five goals by senior
Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) the Post University women's lacrosse team won its first game of the season 13-9 over Nyack at LaMoy Field on Friday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Junior
Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) had three goals, four assists, six ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Senior
Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored twice on five shots and added an assist in the victory.

Kanavy got things started for Post with 26:46 left in the first half. Freshman
Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) put the Eagles in front 2-0 two minutes later with her first of three goals on the day. Junior
Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) found Polaski at the 11:15 mark to extend the advantage to 3-0.

Lauren Lebo scored the first of her five goals to put Nyack on the board with 10:15 left in the first. After a score by Diggett, the Warriors answered with two goals to close the gap to 4-3 with just over a minute left.

Diggett won the ensuing draw control and scored her second later in the possession off a pass from Polaski. Those two would connect for three goals on the day. Young closed out the half with and extra-man scored to put the Eagles in front 6-3 at the break.

Post began to pull away in the second, outscoring the Warriors 4-1 over the first 17 minutes of the half. Diggett scored twice during the run. The teams traded scores over the next ten minutes and Post led 13-7 with 1:32 remaining after Diggett found the back of the next for the fifth time, again on an assist by Polaski.

Lebo made things interesting down the stretch with two goals to close out the game.

Post was outshot 32-25 on the day, but 23 of the Eagles' attempts were on goal. Senior
Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) stopped a season-high 17 shots on the afternoon.

The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, March 18 at home against Caldwell in the Cougars' first game in program history. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
