WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team will play its first official game on Friday, Feb. 22 against Ohio Valley at 11:30 a.m. at Ronald J. Abdow Field on the campus of American International College in Springfield, Mass.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING SCOTS
Ohio Valley comes into Friday at 0-2 on the young season, most recently a 19-1 defeat at No. 7 Seton Hill. Freshman attacker Adam Dickson leads the Fighting Scots with four goals on the year. Ohio Valley was selected to finish seventh in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Preseason Poll.
FLYING WITH A YOUNG SQUAD
The Eagles young roster is comprised of just nine upperclassmen led by team captains, juniors Brian Baatson (Fairfax, Va.),
Matt Edwin (Stamford, Conn.),
Andrew Supanich (Jackson, Va.); and senior
Angel Lastra (Wharton, N.J.). Freshman defender
Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) is also a captain.
PLAYING SOME OF THE BEST
The Eagles will be playing some tough competition in their first season. Post has games scheduled with three teams ranked in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Preseason Top 15 and one that received votes. Dominican visits LaMoy Field on March. 19 and received votes. The Eagles are at Dowling (No. 10) on April 9 and Chestnut Hill (No. 15) on April 15. Post will host No. 6 NYIT in its season finale on April 25.
NORTHEAST CLASSIC
While Friday will be Post's first official game, the team has squared off against NCAA competition in the past. On Oct. 12, the Eagles participated in the Northeast Classic Lacrosse Tournament and played exhibition games against Southern New Hampshire, New England College, and St. Michael's. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Mass.
