Diggett Ties Record As Eagles Drop Game At Philadelphia, 16-7

The Junior Ties Career Goal Record With Two Scores, 59 For Career

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University women's lacrosse team fell at Philadelphia, 16-7, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday afternoon. With two scores on the day, junior Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) tied Mallorie Michalak for the most career goals in school history at 59.
 
Diggett also grabbed a ground ball and two draw controls on the afternoon. Sophomore Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) recorded her seventh multi-goal game of the season with two scores. She added an assist, two ground balls, and two draw controls. Senior Patricia Urena (Methuen, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season.
 
The Rams came out of the gate strong and scored five straight goals to begin the game. Polaski found sophomore Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) quickly after the draw to put the Eagles on the board at the 22:20 mark of the first.
 
Sophomore Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) picked up a ground ball after a Philadelphia turnover and the Eagles cleared it out of the defensive zone. Urena found the back of the net at 9:29 to make the score 7-2.
 
After another Rams goal, freshman Jordyn Woltmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) answered with a score at 7:46. Diggett and Polaski both beat the goalkeeper as the half drew to a close with the Eagles behind 10-5.
 
Liz Mower scored three quick goals out of the break for Philadelpha as it extended its lead to 14-5. Diggett scored the record-tying goal with 15:47 remaining on a free-position shot. She also sits at 68 career points, four away from Michalak's career record.
 
The Eagles are back at home on Tuesday, April 9 against Nyack. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
