NYACK, N.Y. – The Post University women's lacrosse team outscored Nyack 13-3 in the second half on its way to 19-10 victory on Tuesday afternoon. The win is the Eagles first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and road victory since the program began in 2010. The 19 goals tied the most in the team's four-year history, set last season in a 19-9 win over St. Joseph.
Sophomore
Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) scored five goals and assisted on five more. She also controlled four draws and picked up three ground balls. Sophomore
Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) had five goals and an assist to go along with four draw controls. Junior
Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) scored five times and had three draw controls and two ground balls.
The Eagles put the game away with nine consecutive goals to begin the second half. Baez began the stretch with a goal with 29:20 remaining to tie the score 7-7. Freshman
Jordyn Woltmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) found the back of the net off a pass from Polaski at the 27:03 mark for her first of four scores on the afternoon.
Diggett doubled up the Warriors with a goal with 17:05 left to put Post ahead 14-7. Woltmann scored the final goal of the outburst with 11:10 remaining as the Eagles led 15-7.
After two scores by Nyack, Diggett and Baez combined to score four times over the final 7:19 as the Eagles ran away with the victory.
The teams went back and forth throughout the first half, but the Eagles never led. Nyack got on the board first with a goal 59 seconds into the game, but Polaski tied it on a free-position score at 27:14. The Warriors pulled in front 3-1 with two quick goals. Baez knotted the game 4-4 at the 13:13 mark with two straight scores. Nyack took the lead into the break as Lauren Lebo found the back of the net with 2:01 left in the half.
Post recorded season-highs in shots (33), ground balls (18), draw controls (14), and caused turnovers (20). Sophomore
Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) had 15 saves in her first-career win in net.
The Eagles return home on Thursday, March 28 against Southern Connecticut. Opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
