Women’s Lacrosse Drops Season Finale 22-8 At Dominican

Michalak Scores Four Times In Final Collegiate Game; Finishes Season With 31 Goals

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Post University women's lacrosse team lost its final game of the 2012 season, a 22-8 defeat at Dominican in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. Graduate student Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn.) tallied four goals in her final collegiate game, while junior Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored twice.
 
Dominican (6-8, 6-5 CACC) scored five of the first six goals over a span of 4:08 to claim a 5-1 lead. Kanavy cut the deficit to three goals, 5-2, on a free-position goal with 24:08 to play in the opening period.
 
However, the Chargers scored seven unanswered goals to grab a 10-goal advantage, 12-2, with 10:02 remaining in the first half. The run was capped on a free-position goal by Traci Muniz.
 
Michalak scored consecutive goals for Post (1-14, 0-12 CACC) with 8:15 and 6:35 to play in the second half to pull the Eagles within 12, 19-7.
 
In the game, Kanavy snagged four draw controls, and Michalak had two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. Dominican's Gina Sparaco scored four goals to lead the Chargers, and Allison Smithwick tallied a game-high eight draw controls.
 
The Eagles conclude the 2012 season with an overall record of 1-14.
