Post Falls To First Place Holy Family 18-8 On Senior Day

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's lacrosse team lost its Senior Day contest, a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game, against conference leader Holy Family 18-8 on a rainy Sunday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The Eagles were led by junior Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) who tallied four goals, while graduate student Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn.) added five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
 
Sophomore Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) opened the scoring on a man-up goal at the 27:12 mark of the first half. Diggett took a feed from behind the cage from Alanna Bauche (Calgary, Alberta) to give Post (1-13, 0-11 CACC) a 1-0 lead.
 
After Holy Family (11-4, 10-1 CACC) opened up a six-goal advantage, 8-2, Kanavy scored three of the final four goals of the period. Over the final 71 seconds of the stanza, Kanavy scored twice, including a free-position goal with two seconds to play. Post trailed 9-5 at halftime.
 
The Tigers grew the lead to nine goals behind the strength of a 5-0 run to make the score 15-6 with 9:58 to play in the game. After consecutive goals by Michalak, Holy Family scored the final three goals of the game.
 
Senior Michelle Chadwick (Miami, Fla.) made 15 saves for Post in the loss.
 
Post will conclude the 2012 campaign on Wednesday, April 25. The Eagles will travel to CACC foe Dominican for a 4 p.m. opening draw in Orangeburg, N.Y.
