PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 9, 2011) In a 42 goal game, Chestnut Hill defeated the Post University Eagles 27-15 in Philadelphia Saturday afternoon. Stephanie Marran and Malloie Michalak each scored four goals in the game.
The Griffins took a 4-0 lead before Marran scored an unassisted goal for the Eagles. Meghan Diggett then scored her first of three in the game at 20:12 with an assist from Sara Cramer. Chestnut Hill scored once more to make it 5-2, but the Eagles went back on the attack.
Shelby Cocks scored on a free position attempt and less than a minute later, Michalak tallied her first of game closing Post within one. The Griffins extended the lead once again, but Katy Price scored with an assist from Marran just past the midway point of the first half making it 6-5.
Before the half ended, Cocks scored once more along with one from more Marran and two more Michalak, but Chestnut Hill led 18-9 at the break.
In the second half, both Diggett and Marran scored two unassisted goals as Price and Michalak each took advantage of free position attempts adding to their total on the day. With 15 goals scored it wasn't enough to top the Griffins on the day with a 27-15 loss.
Jackie Jolles recorded 19 saves on the day.
The Eagles will return to competition on Sunday afternoon hosting Georgian Court.
