WATERBURY, Conn (April 19, 2011) Shelby Cocks scored a career high four goals in Post University's 16-8 loss to Dominican Tuesday afternoon. Stephanie Marran added three goals and is now two goals shy of scoring 50 on the season.
The combination of Cocks and Marran put the Eagles up 3-0 in the opening minutes of play. Just 1:08 into the game Katy Price found Cocks for the first goal of the contest. Marran then scored an unassisted goal 50 seconds later. Marran then picked up an assist as Cocks tallied her second of the game 3:31 in.
Dominican responded 20 seconds later to make it 3-1, but shortly after it was Marran again with an unassisted goal to make it 4-1.
The Chargers drew within one when Cocks again found the back of the net on an unassisted goal making it 5-3 Post.
Before the half ended, Marran added one more to her total on the day with another unassisted goal. Mallorie Michalak took advantage of a free position shoot and a penalty to score her only goal of the contest. At the end of the half Dominican went on a run to take a 10-7 halftime lead.
Scoring in the second half was limited to only seven goals, but six of them were scored by Dominican. Cocks scored with just over two minutes to play in the game resulting in a 16-8 final tally.
Goalkeeper Jackie Jolles had 20 saves on the day for the Eagles.
Post University will return to competition on Thursday to play Holy Family at the University of Bridgeport. Game time is set for 3:15pm and the team's senior Mallorie Michalak will be honored as a part of senior day festivities.
