Women's lax knocked off by Chestnut Hill, 23-10

WATERBURY, Conn. (April 17, 2011)---The Post University women's lacrosse team fell to Chestnut Hill College, 23-10 on Sunday afternoon in Southbury.

Mallorie Michalak led the Eagles with five goals on eight shots. The always-solid Stephanie Marran added four goals for Post University.

The Eagles hung with the Griffins for the entire first half, exchanging leads and trailing just 11-9 at halftime.

But Chestnut Hill (6-8, 4-5 CACC) came out for the second half on a mission, scoring less than 30 seconds into the half on a shot from Brianne Timony.

Timony finished with four goals.

Kelly McKay and Lindsay Alexander led the Griffins with six goals apiece.

Goaltender Jacqueline Jolles stopped 19 shots in the game for the Eagles, adding to her NCAA-leading total.

The team will return to action on Thursday, when they host Holy Family University at Knights Field on the University of Bridgeport campus. Game time is scheduled for 3:15 pm.
