BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (March 4, 2011) The Post University women's lacrosse team defeated the University of Bridgeport,13-10, at Purple Knights field in Bridgeport Friday afternoon. Stephanie Marran and Katy Price each tallied five goals in the victory as the Eagles move to 1-1 on the season.

Marran scored all of her goals without assist as she took control of the Eagle offense.  As strong as Marran was in the game, it took her 14 minutes to get on the board. The first goal was scored by Katy Price only 5:12 into the game.

Bridgeport's Jennavie Orrell was outstanding for the Purple Knights scoring a game-high 8 goals and responding to Price's first score to make it 1-1.

Shelby Cocks scored an unassisted goal three minutes later before Orrell tied the game at two apiece. Enter Stephanie Marran. In the time it took for Marran to run from midfield off the draw to the cage, she scored the first of three consecutive unassisted goals that would set the tone for the rest of the contest.
Before the half, Cocks would score once more, Price added two, and senior Mallorie Michalak netted one goal giving the Eagles a 9-4 lead. Cocks also had one assist in the game.

Bridgeport came out strong in the second half knowing that in order to get back into the game they would need to strike early and often. Just 23 seconds into the half it was Orrell again bursting towards the cage with a speedy run from midfield.

Price would respond just 35 second later followed by Marran's fourth goal of the game 11 seconds after that. The two goals would give the Eagles enough for the victory.

Although they were down by six Bridgeport was not willing to be denied in their first official NCAA game in program history. Orrell scored three more before the game ended, while Nicole Rogers and Melanie Fernandes each added one.

The game was played at the University of Bridgeport, however it will officially be scored as a home game for Post University.

The Eagles will return to competition on Sunday March 14 against Philadelphia University at home.
