Eagles lacrosse jumps out in front again before falling to tough AIC team, 18-8

Box Score

Stephanie Marran
WATERBURY, Conn. (March 16, 2011)---The Post University women's lacrosse team fell at home to Northeast-10 opponent American International, 18-8, Wednesday afternoon at Pomperaug High School.

Katy Price scored three goals, Stephanie Marran and Shelby Cocks each had two, and the Eagles (1-3, 0-1 CACC) once again hung around against a very tough opponent at home.

Just as they did against Philadelphia University on Sunday, the Eagles jumped out in front, taking a 1-0 lead after Marran took control of the opening draw, raced upfield, and fired one past Yellowjackets goalie Gina Gallo.
Marran later scored on a brilliant spin move in the second half, beating Nicole Sawula.

Eagles freshman Meghan Diggett was also extremely impressive, scoring a goal and forcing three turnovers. She was also credited with three ground balls on the game.

Diggett almost made the game's most remarkable play, zipping a perfect lace-to-lace pass from near midfield to a streaking Stephanie Marran, who caught the ball in stride right in the middle of the scoring area before pushing a shot just wide.

Ashleigh Szwalo led the Yellowjackets (3-0) with six goals and two assists. Bridget Szwalo and Brittany Flynn each added three goals and four assists for American International.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia to take on Holy Family University.
