Caldwell Edges Men's Basketball 83-77

WATERBURY, Conn (January 5, 2010) Post University's Men's Basketball team was defeated by Caldwell College 83-77 Tuesday night at the Drubner Center in Waterbury, CT. The Eagles now stand at (4-9, 0-4 CACC). Caldwell improves to (2-9, 1-2 CACC).
Post University's Trevon Hamlet scored 19 points adding 11 rebounds, while Jon Lucky netted 18. Caldwell's Malcolm Austin tallied a game high 21 points.
The Eagles opened the game with a 7-4 run including a 3 pointer from the left wing from graduate student Jon Lucky. Caldwell stayed in the game taking a 23-22 point lead with 4:02 in the first, when Malcolm Austin hit a layup. The Cougars extended the lead going into the break with a 33-29 edge.
In the second half, Post University ball handlers Rashamell Vereen and Nyheem Sanders got into foul trouble early, spending a significant time on the bench. The Eagles built a 9 point lead that Caldwell slowly began to chip away at. With 2:32 to play Caldwell's Malcolm Austin hit a layup giving the Cougars a lead they would not relinquish en route to the 83-77 point victory.
Post University's Men's Basketball team will be back in action again on Saturday for a road matchup against CACC foe Wilmington.
