WATERBURY, Conn. -- Harry Scully and Stanley Njekwe had the opportunity to represent team Ireland in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket Bratislava 2026, Division B, boosting them to a 5th place finish, the best finish in Team Ireland history. 

This past July, two Post University Men's Basketball players had the honor of representing Team Ireland during the FIBA U20 basketball tournament. This is the second straight summer that Scully represented Team Ireland and his first time being named a co-captain on the team. Scully had a very impressive tournament posting team highs in points per game with 15.4 and assists per game with 4.6. Those totals were also good for eighth-most in the whole tournament for points per game and sixth-most for assists per game. Scully's best performance came against Hungary (07/18/2026) where he played 36 minutes scoring 20 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the field and 4 of 8 from three, while also dishing out seven assists and grabbing two rebounds. 


Njekwe first got involved with Team Ireland with help from his club coach in England who was able to get him in contact with the head coach of Team Ireland. This was Njekwe's first year on the team. Njekwe provided a spark off the bench for Team Ireland, playing 9.6 minutes per game. Njekwe's best game was against Luxembourg (07/19/2026) where he logged 18 minutes, scoring eight points on an efficient 4 of 5 from the floor, while grabbing five rebounds and blocking four shots. 

Scully and Njekwe helped lead Team Ireland to an overall record of 5-2, propelling them to the quarterfinals for the second time in the team's history. They would end up losing to the eventual champion, Ukraine, by a score of 72-62. They also lead Team Ireland to the best finish in team history placing fifth in the tournament out of 21 teams. In 2025, Scully helped Team Ireland to a seventh place finish, now second-best in team history.

Scully and Njekwe will look to build off of this unique experience and bring back more knowledge and experience to Post as they get ready for the upcoming season.
