WATERBURY, Conn (January 14, 2010) Post University's Men's Basketball team lost to Franklin Pierce University 80-76 Thursday night at the Drubner Center in Waterbury. The loss drops the Eagles to 4-11, while the Ravens improve to 7-8.

Post University's Jon Lucky scored a game-high 25 points with 9 rebounds. Freshman Nyheem Sanders added 19. Kinard Dozier and Terrell Ray both tallied 17 points for the Ravens.

To open the first half the Eagles went on a 9-3 run as Franklin Pierce was forced to take a timeout after Lucky hit a three from the right wing. Franklin Pierce looked to work the ball inside in the early stages of the half to maximize their height advantage with the 7-1 John Hegarty in the paint.

With the inside game guarded closely by the Eagles, the Ravens worked the ball outside to Jeff Manchester who made three deep field goals from long range. Post kept the tempo of the game down throughout the half as the teams went into the locker rooms knotted at 37.

In the second half, Franklin Pierce took the lead 47-40 in the opening minutes and held an advantage for most of the half. Sanders would hit consecutive threes with 6:30 to play, followed by a three point play making the score 68-60 Franklin Pierce.

Sanders would swing the momentum of the game in favor of the Eagles. With 43 seconds to play Post University's Rashamell Vereen hit a layup making it 73-69. On the inbound play, Franklin Pierce's Marcus Wellman turned the ball over by stepping out of bounds.

Poor free throw shooting down the stretch by the Raven's kept the Eagles in the game. Sanders hit s jumper with 26 seconds to play closing Post University within two, 75-73. When Sanders fouled out moments later, the Eagles lost their momentum as Wellman hit two more from the line, holding on for a 80-76 point win.

Post University will be back in action on January 19th at Concordia.
