Soarin' Beyond the Sport is a series in which members of the Post University Athletic Communications Team sit down with student-athletes across all the varsity athletic programs offered at Post University to learn more about interesting stories about the players off the field, court, ice, etc., in a short interview format. All the interview questions, filming, editing, and write-ups are done by the featured member of the Athletic Communications Team to help them gain new experiences in a variety of important aspects in the field.
In this episode, Athletic Communications Spring Intern Tylen Stanley-Jennette sat down with Post University Softball sophomore outfielder Isabella Oliver earlier in the semester to discuss her athletic history in addition to her social life and family snowmobile racing hobby.
WATERBURY, Conn. -- In this interview, sophomore
Isabella Oliver highlights how athletics have shaped her life off the field as well as balancing her hobbies, academics, and social life. As a member of the Post University Softball and Women's Volleyball team, Oliver also enjoys racing snowmobiles with her family.
Originally, as a tri-sport athlete in high school, the Waterbury native was not sure if she wanted to play in college. However, in her junior year in high school, she was recruited for basketball and softball at Western Connecticut State University. Eventually, things changed, and Oliver ended up at Post University playing softball and volleyball.
The star outfielder goes on to talk about how Post University Softball has grown over the past two years in her collegiate softball career. One of the sophomore's goals from the beginning of the season was to win more than her first season, which she accomplished after ending the 2026 season with an overall record of 10-33.
Next, the student-athlete talks about her family hobby of snowmobile racing, which takes place during the fall and winter, with the different terrains being ice and snow. Being a collegiate athlete, Oliver has had little time to enjoy snowmobile racing, but she continues to help her family out by being a part of the family pit crew.
After her career at Post, Oliver's personal career goal is to work in a high school, either coaching basketball or softball, or possibly as an Athletic Director.
