For Second Straight Year, Hannah Saunders Named to Women's Hockey Commissioners Association Watch List for Goalie of the Year for Women's Ice Hockey

WATERBURY, Conn. -- One of five goalies from the New England Women's Hockey Alliance to be named to the list, senior goalie Hannah Saunders is on the Watch List for the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association Goalie of the Year award, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. She is the only goalie in Post University Women's Ice Hockey program history to be in the running for the award, doing so for the second consecutive year, as she made it in her junior season last year.

The Watch List consists of 31 goaltenders in the running to be named 2026 National Women's Goalie of the Year. The award was created in 2021 to recognize the top female goalie in NCAA Division I hockey, and all three of last year's finalists are on this list, including 2025 Goalie of the Year Ava McNaughton of Wisconsin. The goalies to watch come from all five NCAA Division I conferences, with 16 from the United States, ten from Canada, and five from Europe (two from Finland and Sweden and one from Denmark). Goalies on this Watch List currently have a goals against average of 2.20 or lower or a save percentage of .923 or higher.

So far in 19 games played in net this season, Saunders has registered 1058:50 minutes, allowing 43 goals and making 539 saves. Her numbers have given her a .926 save percentage with a 2.44 goals against average, while recording two shutouts and a 7-10-1 record. Across her career to this point, Saunders has appeared in 79 games with a .921 save percentage and 2.43 goals against average with 13 shutouts.

Post University hits the road next weekend for a two-game set against Franklin Pierce University on 7:00 PM on both Friday and Saturday. The two teams split their two-game set at the Sports Center of Connecticut back in October, with the Ravens winning the first game, 2-0, and the Eagles coming back in the second game with a 3-2 victory.
