HOW IT HAPPENED
It was Norling getting the scoring started for the Eagles in the first period as his second-chance shot against junior goalie Donovan Alfama got by his right side for the score near the halfway point of the frame. Both senior forwards
Hugh McGuigan and
Jacob Howell would be credited with assists for Post on the score, giving them a 1-0 lead.
However, under nine minutes later, while killing off a 5-on-3 situation, junior forward Stirling Nash would net the equalizer with the help of fellow junior forward Matthew Nuzzolilo. Sending the teams tied at one heading into the intermission, Nash rifled the shot by the right shoulder of senior goalie
Benjamin Cunneen for his second goal of the season.
The rest of the way, it would be the Lancers continuing their big offensive weekend after putting up 11 goals a night ago against Franklin Pierce University. Scoring just over two minutes apart from each other, junior forward Spencer Hecklinger and sophomore defenseman Cam Quigley scored for Worcester State, giving them a 3-1 cushion heading into the third.
Quigley's goal would be the second power-play goal of the game for the Lancers, who held on for the 3-1 win. Between the pipes, Alfama would finish with 32 saves on 33 shots from the Eagles, while Cunneen closed with 39 saves for the home team. Late in the third, sophomore forward
Scotty Swain nearly cut the deficit down to one with 29 seconds left, but his deflection would be smothered by Alfama before crossing the line.
