MILFORD, Conn. – Competing for the first time this year, Post University Men's Golf did not have to go far, heading down to the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Connecticut, for three rounds of golf over the next two days as part of the SHU Fall Classic hosted by Sacred Heart University. After two rounds on Monday, the Eagles would find themselves in 12th place, just a stroke ahead of last-place Merrimack College, while the University of Rhode Island led the pack over the hosting Pioneers by three strokes.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
In the top three were Rhode Island, Sacred Heart, and Fairfield University, all separated by just seven strokes between first and third place. As a team, Post finished 45-over-par for the two rounds, led by graduate student Joe Ensign at seven-over-par, tied for 28th place. Ensign finished round one with a 78 before improving by five strokes in round two for a 73. 

Junior Flo Schimek finished just three strokes off Ensign as the second-best Eagle golfer on the day with a 10-over-par performance, tied for 38th, improving his score by two strokes from a 78 to a 76 from round one to round two. Junior Braden Shea struggled in round one, having shot an 87 before shaving off 14 strokes in round two, closing at 16-over-par in a tie for 63rd place. 

Freshman Gavin Giroux made his Post debut, closing out just a stroke behind Shea in a tie for 66th place at 17-over-par, bringing down his score by a single stroke round over round. Senior Nathan Leonard rounded out the five Post golfers at 19-over-par, also improving by a stroke and finishing tied for 72nd. 

Rhode Island's Luke Stennett leads the individual pack with an eight-under-par, followed by Sacred Heart's Pablo Lacayo at seven-under-par, and Tadgh Burke of Fairfield, leading, rounding out the top three at five-under-par in a tie with his teammate Rasmus Ditzinger.
