WATERBURY, Conn. -- After four weeks, Post University Men's Soccer finally finds itself in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll again following a 2-0-0 week against #22 Felician University and Franklin Pierce University that moved the program to its best unbeaten start through six games since 2011, coming in at 14th in the nation in Tuesday's release.
Heading into the season, the Eagles were ranked 15th in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, but after starting the season with a 1-1 tie against AIC in the Post University Kick Off Invitational, they were dropped out of the top 25. Starting the year with three consecutive 1-1 ties, including ones against #6 Southern New Hampshire University and Gannon University, who were receiving votes, Post finally got its first win of the season on September 20th against Jefferson University in a 1-0 decision.
That win was the start of their current three-game winning streak heading into Wednesday afternoon's home matchup on LaMoy Field against Dominican (N.Y.) at 3:30 PM. So far, Post's offense has scored six goals in six games, led by graduate forward
Tiago Feler offensively with two goals, including the game-winner on Saturday against Franklin Pierce University, snapping a seven-game losing streak in the all-time series against the Ravens.Â
Defensively, the Eagles have allowed just three goals in six games as junior goalkeeper
Leopold Dufaut continues to dominate in goal with a 3-0-3 record, playing all 540 minutes to the tune of 39 saves, three shutouts, a .929 save percentage, and a 0.50 goals-against average. Dufaut is now a three-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, and this past week was named the D2CIDA National Player of the Week after making 17 saves across the two games the Eagles played in.
Only one other CACC team currently sits in the top 25 of the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, with Wilmington University coming in at 23rd.Â
