WATERBURY, Conn. -- Following their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament's Round of 16, #15 Post University Men's Soccer was picked to finish second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Coaches' Preseason Poll for Men's Soccer with 89 points and two first-place votes. Felician University, which beat the Eagles in both the CACC Championship Game and Round of 16, was picked to win the conference with 96 points and seven first-place votes, while entering the year ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.
Other teams that earned first-place votes included Wilmington University, picked to finish third with 81 points and a first-place vote, while Jefferson University garnered 54 points and one first-place vote to finish sixth in the poll. Between the Wildcats and Rams, the University of Bridgeport came in at 68 points in fourth, with Georgian Court University right behind them in fifth place with 67 points.
The Eagles saw their five-year streak as CACC Champions come to a close, 1-0, against Felician in the championship game last season despite their fourth consecutive regular season crown. However, a 12-5-3 record after the CACC Tournament was enough to get Post into the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight year, this time as the seventh seed, as they ended the season having gone 6-1-0 in their final seven games. In Head Coach
Ted Haley's 20th season with the team, he earned his 200th win on September 21st, while leading the program to a 13-5-5 record, marking the sixth straight year in which the Eagles have had 10-plus wins. In conference play, Post finished 8-1-2, coinciding with their sixth straight season as well as with a conference record above .500 and with eight or more wins.
In their NCAA Tournament run, Post took down tenth-seeded University of the District of Columbia, 1-0, before avenging an early-season loss to second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University in penalty kicks, 7-6. Facing Felician for a third time in 2024, the Eagles overcame an early two-goal deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the second half, but were unable to hold on as the Golden Falcons came back to win in penalty kicks, 5-4.
The 2025 season kicks off on September 4th as part of the Post University Kick Off Invitational, which will feature American International College (AIC), Adelphi University, and Wilmington University. Post will face AIC on September 4th at 4:00 PM before playing on Saturday against Adelphi University at 4:00 PM, both of which will be played on LaMoy Field.
