WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the first time in school history, Post University Athletics has a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year on the men's side as graduate defender
Felix Nassen from Post University Men's Soccer was named the 2025 CACC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the conference office this afternoon.
Every member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference nominated one student-athlete for both men's and women's sports for the accolade, which was then voted on by every school's Director of Athletic Communications based on their top three on a scoring scale of 5-3-1. To be eligible for the award, the nominee had to be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). They must also have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at your institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at your institution.
Nassen finished out a stellar three-year career at Post this past fall, having played 58 games, starting in all of them, while recording three assists for three points across 4,801 minutes on the pitch. The graduate student transferred in from Notre Dame College (NCAA DII) before the 2022 season and helped lead the Eagles to three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament's Round of 16 as well as two CACC Championships as part of their five-year run of conference titles that spanned from 2018-2023.Â
Graduating with a 4.00 GPA as both an undergraduate student and graduate student in Business Administration, Nassen racked up the athletic accolades just as much as he did the academic ones after being named to the Top XVII Award this year, along with being a two-time CACC All-Academic Team honoree and a CSC Academic All-District Team recipient.Â
During his final two seasons, Nassen was named CACC Defensive Player of the Year along with All-Conference First Team twice, D2CCA All-East Region First Team, and United Soccer Coaches' First Team twice. Nassen was a D2CCA All-American Third Teamer in 2023 before getting the nod to the Second Team this season, where he played a team-leading 1,808 minutes.Â
Nassen will now advance to the D2CCA Region Ballot, and if he is named the Regional Scholar-Athlete, then they will move on for consideration for National Scholar-Athlete. The regional/national awards will be announced later in the summer.
