ERIE, Penn. -- Appearing in its fourth consecutive NCAA Regional, Post University Men's Golf finds itself in 14th place after the first round of competition on Thursday morning, closing at 28-over-par with a team score of 316. Senior Joe Ensign leads the Eagles at two-over-par, after finishing with a 74 overall. At the same time, Davis & Elkins paces the entire field at six-over-par with two rounds to go, which will get underway on Friday and Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Leading the entire pack of golfers was Aiden Talent, finishing four-under-par with a two-stroke lead over Nolan Skaggs of St. Thomas Aquinas College for the individual title, while Ensign sits six strokes off the pace of Talent. Beyond Davis & Elkins, California (Penn.), and Gannon University are tied for second at 11-over-par with a team finish of 299, followed by Adelphi University just one stroke back of the two schools at 12-over-par.
Out of all the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams in the regional, Post sits second among them with Felician University in 10th place at 23-over-par, only five strokes ahead of the Eagles. Behind those two CACC teams are Goldey-Beacom College at 37-over-par and Dominican (N.Y.) at 41-over-par after day one. Ensign is tied with Adrian Bonilla from the Lightning and is in 11th place for the top golfer from the conference.
Junior Nathan Leonard was the next closest golfer to Ensign, tying for 52nd at seven-over-par at 79 on the day, and behind him for Post was sophomore Flo Schimek at nine-over-par with an 81 finish. Junior Miles Maresch placed in a tie for 74th at 10-over-par, while freshman Brandon Frye rounded out the five at 16-over-par, placing 101st overall. Sophomore Braden Shea is also in attendance at the regional as the available substitute for any golfer on the team during the regional.
The five for the Eagles tomorrow will get underway with round two tomorrow morning, starting at 11:40 AM with Frye. At the same time, Ensign closes them all out at 12:20 PM in hopes of making up ground in the NCAA Regional as Post looks to make their second consecutive NCAA National Championship appearance.
