Soarin' Beyond the Sport, Episode 8: Brooke & Bailey Dickenson (Softball)

Soarin' Beyond the Sport is a series in which members of the Post University Athletic Communications Team sit down with student-athletes across all the varsity athletic programs offered at Post University to learn more about interesting stories about the players off the field, court, ice, etc., in a short interview format. All the interview questions, filming, editing, and write-ups are done by the featured member of the Athletic Communications Team to help them gain new experiences in a variety of important aspects in the field.

In this episode, Athletic Communications Spring Interns, Joe Spinella and Angelo Venditti, talk with senior infielders Brooke and Bailey Dickenson from Post University Softball about their college experience, being reunited to play together at Post, their favorite memories together, and how they ended up at the institution.

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Playing together in college was not the plan for senior infielders Brooke and Bailey Dickenson, the twins who grew up playing together in Vineland, New Jersey, seemed to have gone their separate ways for their collegiate careers with Bailey Dickenson joining the Post University Softball program, while Brooke Dickenson was off to Division I Central Connecticut State University.

It was all according to plan as Brooke did not want to originally go to school with Bailey as a way to separate for a bit, but becoming an Eagle is something that Brooke does not regret, bringing her back to the old days of playing with her twin sister on the diamond, and highlighting the support system it brought along with it at Post.

While Bailey Dickenson came to Post from the very beginning, it also was not entirely in the cards for her either, making the choice between attending Millersville University, the alma mater of her parents, or coming to Waterbury, Connecticut, to play with Post. For her, it came down to the atmosphere, coaching staff, and smaller school aspect that drove her to join the Eagles back in 2022.

Although never fully pushing her sister, Brooke, to come to Post, Bailey did play a role in the arrival of her sister in 2023, where the duo played together until their graduation this past weekend from the institution. Having played Softball for essentially all but one year of their lives together, the duo reminisces about how playing together for so long, they were able to pick each other up on the field, doing what the other may not have been able to do at any given time.

That sentiment could not have been more true during the 2025 campaign for the sisters as Bailey was hitting .295 heading into their mid-April matchup with Bloomfield College, while Brooke was hitting only at a .119 clip with stellar defensive fielding as both were everyday starters. Brooke's fielding down the stretch landed her the ninth spot on ESPN Top 10 Plays on April 19th, after recording the first known triple play in program history against Goldey-Beacom College a day earlier.

Brooke's bat also caught up with her, recording 12 hits down the final stretch of the season with 10 RBIs and that triple play, finishing the season with a .183 batting average. Starting with that Bloomfield doubleheader and beyond, Bailey would have only eight hits with a home run and nine RBIs, while only having one error in the field, finishing her career with a .981 fielding percentage and her season at a .248 average. That duality in their play throughout 2025 highlighted exactly what they spoke about in picking up each other on the field when the other struggled, a staple throughout their careers.
