WATERBURY, Conn. -- A record-breaking season for senior forward
Julia Wysocki continues to net her accolades as she became the first player in the history of the Post University Women's Ice Hockey program to be named to the New England Hockey Writers Association New England Division I Women's All-Star Team, as announced by the association on Wednesday afternoon.
Wysocki was the only player from the New England Women's Hockey Alliance to be named to the All-Star Team this season after Saint Anselm College's Natalie Tulchinsky and Stonehill's Alexis Petford both received the honor last season for the NEHWA. The senior's season saw her break all sorts of records in the Post University history books after scoring 18 goals and recording nine assists for a total of 27 points for the Eagles on their run to their first NEWHA Semifinals in program history.
Wysocki finished her season with the most single-season goals and points in program history, while her +7 on the ice was second-best for a season, tied with freshman forward
Rowyn Ringor and behind only sophomore forward
Celena Mickevicius at a +10. With three power-play goals, the senior was tied for second-most in a single season for the program behind Jenna Abeyta's four goals during the 2019-20 campaign.
For her career, Wysocki finished playing the third-most games all-time with 135 while having the most goals in program history at 32, as well as assists with 22, and points with 54. The dominant season resulted in one NEWHA Player of the Week honor, two NEWHA Player of the Week Honor Rolls, being named the TSR NEWHA Player of the Month for January, NEWHA All-Conference First Team, and NEWHA Player of the Year. Before this season, the program never had a NEWHA Player of the Month, Player of the Year, or First Team All-Conference selection.
The event will be streamlined to allow attendees an enjoyable reunion of the New England hockey community, starting with food and beverage at 6:00 p.m., with the awards presentation to begin at 7:00 p.m. Cost of the reception is $45 per person. Anyone interested in attending the event should contact Joe Bertagna at j2b2hockey@gmail.com. Questions can also be directed to Joe via (978) 376-5494.
