Brandon Frye Finishes with Collegiate Best Performance, Men's Golf Ties for Saint Anselm Spring Invitational Crown

CANDIA, N.H. –  Post University Men's Golf seems to be hitting its stride at just the right time as the Eagles tied for first with Saint Anselm College in the shortened Saint Anselm Spring Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. Originally slated to be two rounds starting on Monday, snow in Candia, New Hampshire, at the Candia Woods Golf Links forced Monday's round to be canceled, limiting the event to one Tuesday round in which the Eagles and Hawks tied at 10-over-par.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Beyond the tie for Post and Saint Anselm, Southern New Hampshire rounded out the top three with a 13-over-par round in an event that separated first from fifth place by just six strokes. Assumption University and AIC both finished a stroke apart in fourth and fifth place at 15-over-par and 16-over-par, respectively. The lower third of the leaderboard saw Franklin Pierce at 21-over-par, Saint Anselm's B Team at 22-over-par, and Bentley University at 23-over-par in the sixth through eighth slots.

Senior Joe Ensign narrowly missed winning his third event of the year, but has now finished in the top 10 for the eighth time in nine total events that the Eagles have participated in this season. Ensign was one-under-par in second place, just one stroke away from Assumption's independent entry in Chris Stilwell, who won the individual title with a two-under-par round.

Junior Nathan Leonard was also a top-three finisher, just behind Ensign at even with par, tied with Kyle Puchol, another Assumption golfer, while freshman Brandon Frye had his best collegiate finish at one-over-par as an independent entry for Post, tying for fifth overall with three other players. Sophomore Flo Schimek's three-over-par round landed him a tie for 11th place with six other entrants before the separation among other Post players occurred.

Junior Miles Maresch and sophomore Braden Shea both finished in the lower half of the standings for the Eagles as Maresch was an eight-over-par finisher in a tie for 38th place, while Shea finished tied for 51st at 11-over-par.
