Hannah Saunders Named TSR NEWHA Goalie of the Month, Rowyn Ringor Earns Second Consecutive Rookie of the Month for Women's Ice Hockey

WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the second straight month, freshman forward Rowyn Ringor was named the TSR New England Women's Hockey Alliance Rookie of the Month while junior goalie Hannah Saunders landed her first-ever TSR NEWHA Goalie of the Month, following her Honor Roll mention in the January edition, after the performances by both players during the month of February as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Hannah Saunders - Goalie of the Month - Women's Ice Hockey
Saunders dominated between the pipes for the Eagles in her eight games played during February in which she strung together a 5-3-0 record. Saunders allowed only nine goals in nearly 463 minutes of action, which was good for a 1.17 goals-against average while making 214 saves for a .860 save percentage. Saunders tallied two more shutouts, against Saint Anselm College early in February and then Sacred Heart University at home to end the regular season. The junior then pulled off back-to-back shutouts in the NEWHA Quarterfinals against Franklin Pierce University to upset the two-seeded Ravens with a pair of 1-0 wins to send Post to their first-ever NEWHA Semifinals. Saunders now has eight shutouts on the season, including three in a row which are both program records.

Rowyn Ringor - Rookie of the Month - Women's Ice Hockey
Ringor continued her incredible rookie season with the Eagles in their final seven games of the regular season and two NEWHA Tournament games. Ringor put up two goals and four assists for a total of six points while being a +4 on the ice during that stretch. The freshman had the game-winning goal in Post's 3-0 win over Saint Anselm College earlier in the month while also becoming the program's single-season record holder for most assists in a year with now 16 and counting.

Post University advanced to their first-ever NEWHA Tournament Semifinals this past weekend and will take on top-seeded LIU tomorrow afternoon at the Northwell Health Ice Center at 2:00 PM. This season, the Eagles were 1-2-1 against the Sharks, going to an overtime and shootout once each with them while losing in regulation after that and then winning the final regular season matchup against them, their first win against LIU in program history, at home on February 14th, 3-2.
