SHELTON, Conn. – The Eagles' Women's Ice Hockey team opened their season this evening, playing the first collegiate game in the nation for the 2026-27 season and part one of a two-day homestand against Lindenwood University, losing 0-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions' offense fired a continuous barrage of shots at junior goalie Devyn Amundson throughout the game and never ceased. The Lions averaged 17 shots per period, totaling 51 in the game. The Eagles took 15 shots throughout the entire 60 minutes of action at the Sports Center of Connecticut.
First to cement her name in the scorer's column was Lindenwood's Tilde Simenson at 14:02 in the first period, followed by Paige Cline's own goal just three minutes later. The third Lindenwood goal came at 8:15 in the second period that would remain rather uneventful otherwise. In the third period, Silje Gunderson and Elina Zilliox put the finishing touches on an impressive outing from the Lions who traveled over 1,000 miles from Missouri to Connecticut to open their season.
Amundson opened her third season with the Eagles in a 46-save exertion, playing the entire game. On the other side of the ice, Madison Bowtell earned the shutout win for the Lions, saving all 15 shots fired from Eagle sticks.
