Seven Players Named to NE10 All-Conference Teams for Football

WATERBURY, Conn. -- A program-record seven players from Post University Football earned Northeast-10 All Conference nods in this afternoon's release, headlined by freshman wide receiver Israel Hiraldo, who took home First Team Offense honors for both the wide receiver and return specialist positions, as well as being named to the All-Rookie Team. Freshman defensive back Jazaire Aurelus and freshman kicker Nathan Hawkins joined Hiraldo on that All-Rookie Team as well, with Hawkins being a Second Team Offense recipient too.

Rounding out the seven and repeating on Second Team Defense was junior safety Michael Gabettie, joined by senior linebacker Imeer Johnson, while the Second Team Offense saw both freshman punter Hayden Hall and senior offensive lineman Colby Laursen-Rice make an appearance.

Hiraldo's First Team and All-Rookie accolades cap off a campaign in which he was the New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award winner back in week three, when he was also NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week and D2Football.com Special Teams Player of the Week, with two more NE10 Rookie of the Week honors in tow. The freshman led the team in receptions and receiving yards with 42 for 645 yards, hauling in a team-high six touchdowns. On special teams, Hiraldo had two kick returns for touchdowns, totaling 458 yards on 15 attempts, as well as 170 punt return yards on 12 attempts. Hiraldo's special teams numbers took a hit as the season went on, as teams refused to kick or punt in his direction due to his game-changing speed and success in the return game. Another offensive player in Laursen-Rice, the offensive lineman appeared in all 10 games for an Eagle line that allowed just 11 sacks all season, while helping them rip off 1,646 rushing yards for 24 touchdowns during the season.

Special teams continued to show out with Hall and Hawkins on the Second Team Offense as Hall primarily handled the punting duties while Hawkins was the kickoff and field-goal specialist as a freshman. Hall attempted 50 punts during the regular season for 1,934 yards with a long of 62, forcing 11 punts inside the 20-yard line and kicking five punts over 50 yards. Hawkins, who was also All-Rookie Team, kicked off 53 times for 3,195 yards with an average of 60.3 yards per kickoff, 20 touchbacks, and three kickoffs out of bounds. Accounting for 46 points, Hawkins hit on 5-of-6 field goal attempts with a long of 31 yards, in addition to going 31-for-36 on point-after attempts.

The team's leading tackler for the second straight year after leading the nation in tackles his sophomore year, Gabettie repeated on Second Team Defense with 93 tackles at the safety position this year with 45 solos and 48 assisted, in which he recorded six tackles for loss totaling 14 yards, one sack for two yards, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His performance was just as impressive as Johnson's, which landed him on the Second Team, as he had 49 total tackles with 29 solos and 20 assists, including eight tackles for loss for 55 yards, five sacks for 49 yards, four forced fumbles, and one interception. A one-time Rookie of the Week, Aurelus made his mark with 51 total tackles, 33 solos and 18 assists, while having five tackles for loss totaling 28 yards, two sacks for 18 yards, four interceptions, and a forced fumble.
