Anthony Johnson Had a Record Breaking Day as the Eagles Fall 23-15 to Pace University

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Senior wide receiver Anthony Johnson had himself quite the afternoon as he recorded 14 receptions for 220 yards and two touchdowns. All though Johnson had a great afternoon it was not enough as the Eagles would end up falling just short, 23-15 to Pace University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior wide receiver Anthony Johnson had a record breaking day for the Eagles as he hauled in 14 receptions for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson shattered the single game record for most receptions in a game with 14 as the previous record was nine set by Jermaine Tillery at Wagner (11/18/23). Johnson also broke the single game record for most receiving yards in a game with 220 as the previous record was set by Joshua Tracey vs. West Virginia Wesleyan (8/31/24) with 163. Johnson had 220 receiving yard, 2 rushing yards and 68 punt return yards giving him a total of 290 all purpose yards on the day which moves him into second all time for a single game just 21 yards behind the record. 

Pace University got off to a nice start as Jhamier Howard took the opening kick off 95 yards for a touchdown to start the game. Pace added a Marc Malandruccolo 36 yard field goal to make it 9-0 after the first quarter. 

The Eagles got on the board after taking advantage of a roughing the kicker penalty by Pace as quarterback DJ Alston unloaded a 40 yard touchdown pass to Johnson to cut the Pace led to 9-7 with 12:41 left in the second quarter. 

Pace got on the board again with a 54 yard touchdown run by Howard for his second score of the day extending the lead to 16-7. Tray Mauney scored a nine yard touchdown for Pace as they extend their lead yet again making it 23-7 Pace. 

The Eagles kept fighting as quarterback Malakai Taylor led the Post offense to a 11 play 38 yard scoring drive capped off with a four yard touchdown pass to Johnson wo cut the Pace led down to 23-15 as they were successful on the two point conversion. 

Lucas Boursiquot had the only take away for the Post defense with an interception in the first quarter which is his first career take away. 

The Eagles battled all game but ultimately could not over come their six turnovers on the day and end up falling to Pace by a final score of 23-15. 

WHO'S NEXT 
The Eagles are back in action on the road October 17th at 12:00 pm against Franklin Pierece University. Post is 1-3 all time against the Ravens with a 28-17 loss in their last match up on October 25, 2025.
