WATERBURY, Conn. -- For only the second time in program history and the second time in three seasons, Post University Men's Soccer has the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Goalkeeper of the Year as junior goalkeeper
Leopold Dufaut was named to the honor on Thursday afternoon as part of the CACC All-Conference release ahead of Saturday's championship matches at LaMoy Field.
Dufaut, who was named to the CACC All-Conference First Team, joined graduate midfielders
Luis Rodrigues and
Sami Charaf Amal, as well as freshman defender
Agnaldo Germano, on that list. Making the Second Team were senior midfielder
Markus Boe Tunge, senior forward
Matheus Milagres, and freshman defender
Pedro Vercosa. The Eagles also earned their first Team Sportsmanship Award since 2004. The seven All-Conference recipients are the most the Eagles have had since the 2022 season, when they also had seven with the same ratio of four First Teamers and three Second Teamers. The most All-Conference recipients for a single season for Post came back in 2013 when they totaled eight.
Based on the regular season, Dufaut's Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team nod should come as no surprise, as he allowed just nine goals all year with a 0.60 goals-against average and 71 saves, finishing with six shutouts as well as a combined shutout and a 7-1-7 record across 15 matches with 1,343 minutes of action. As for Rodrigues, he played in all 15 matches with a team-best eight goals while tying for the team lead in assists with three for a total of 19 points, as well as three game-winning goals for Post. The graduate student was twice named to the CACC Honor Roll during October and recorded a hat trick against Holy Family University on the road.
Also, First Team recipients, Charaf Amal and Germano, provided a little bit of offense while helping the Eagle defense clamp down on their opponents for those seven shutouts. Charaf Amal appeared in 13 matches with three assists, while Germano was a two-time CACC Defensive Player of the Week and Weekly Honor Roll recipient to go along with his one CACC Rookie of the Week honor. The freshman played in 14 regular-season matches, including all 90 minutes in 11 of those affairs.
Defense reigned supreme on the Second Team as well, with the duo of Milagres and Vercosa appearing in nearly every single match, as Milagres came in at 13 matches, while Vercosa finished with 14 matches played. The former would close with three assists for three points, across 891 minutes, while the latter, in his freshman season, was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week once each, scoring once to tie the match at home against nationally-ranked Wilmington University, and playing 90 minutes in 11 matches.
Rounding out the seven for Post was Boe Tunge in the midfield spot, with 14 matches played in which he tallied two assists. The senior appeared in 1,300 minutes of action in that span, with 11 matches seeing him play the entire 90 minutes on the pitch.
