WILMINGTON, Del. -- Only 18 holes sit between Post University Men's Golf and their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship since the 2009-10 season as the Eagles extended their lead to four strokes over Wilmington University on Monday morning, despite shooting 30-over-par as a team. Taking place at the White Clay Creek Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware, the Wildcats shot 31-over-par, one stroke higher than Post on their home turf, falling another stroke back of them, while the other five teams fell further back of the two teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
While Post and Wilmington sit at 52-over-par and 56-over-par, respectively, the rest of the pack trails the Eagles by 10-plus strokes as Felician University rounds out the top three at 63-over-par, 11 strokes off the pace, while Jefferson University is even further back at 68-over-par, 16 strokes off of Post. Two years ago, at the Watertown Golf Club, Goldey-Beacom College, which has won the last three CACC Men's Golf Championships, eked out the Eagles on the final day of the championship, but this year slipped further back after the second round in fifth place at 70-over-par.
Individually, every single Post golfer besides freshman
Gavin Giroux finished with a higher score than a day ago, but only five golfers in the 37-man field had a better day two score than a day one score. Giroux, who shot 18-over-par on day one, shot 17-over-par today and now sits at 35-over-par in 32nd place, but with the fifth score of each team being dropped off the team score, the freshman's two-day final does not count towards Post's total.
As it stands, junior
Braden Shea is currently in the top three in third place at 10-over-par after shooting six-over-par today, just six strokes off Pablo Hidalgo, who maintained his lead from day one at four-over-par. Wilmington's Noah Wallace is two strokes back of Hidalgo in second place and four strokes ahead of Shea's third-place finish. Graduate student
Joe Ensign is right behind Shea in fourth place, all alone at 11-over-par, finishing 6-over-par in his second round.
Freshman
Luis Reina is tied for seventh place at 13-over-par, going for seven-over-par in round two, while junior
Flo Schimek sits in a tie for 17th place at 18-over-par, performing four strokes higher than a day ago at 11-over-par on Monday. As the top team in the championship event, Post golfers will kick off on Tuesday between 9:30 AM and 10:06 AM, with the final round on Tuesday morning.
