WILMINGTON, Del. -- Vying for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship title since the 2009-10 season, Post University Men's Golf started day one of the CACC Championships in the lead by three strokes over Wilmington University at the White Clay Creek Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday afternoon. Shooting 23-over-par, the Eagles, followed by the Wildcats, are closely joined by Goldey-Beacom College and Felician University in a tie for third place at 30-over-par, with two rounds of golf still to be played over the next two days.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pablo Hidalgo from the Golden Falcons currently leads the individual field after shooting even with par in the first round, but not far off his pace in fourth place is junior
Braden Shea from the Eagles at four-over-par, while Guillermo de Miguel of the Lightning and Noah Wallace of the Wildcats are tied for second at two-over-par. Senior
Joe Ensign is right behind Shea at five-over-par as the second-highest Post player after one round at five-over-par.
But the close separation between all the Eagles would continue down the leaderboard as four of the five who competed on Sunday were inside of the top 10, with freshman
Luis Reina making his conference championship debut in a tie for sixth place at six-over-par, followed by junior
Flo Schimek in a five-way tie for ninth place at seven-over-par. Freshman
Gavin Giroux, who was also making his conference debut, struggled in the first round with an 18-over-par in 31st place heading into day two tomorrow; however, for the team score, only the top four scores count, leaving Giroux's finish off the scorecard for today. Each team is allowed to substitute a golfer no sooner than 10 minutes before the round starts on that day.
All five Post golfers are expected to tee off tomorrow morning between 9:30 AM and 10:06 AM.
