WATERBURY, Conn. -- Coming off of one of their best seasons in program history at 11-15-0, Post University Men's Ice Hockey was picked to finish fifth in this year's Northeast-10 Preseason Poll with nine points, after being picked to finish tied for last a season ago, as announced by the league office in their Wednesday afternoon release.
Last year's conference champion, Saint Anselm College, was picked first with five first-place votes and 25 points overall, while Saint Michael's College, which was last season's runner-up, finished second in voting with 18 points. The only other first-place vote would go to Assumption University, which was picked to finish third with 17 points, followed by Southern New Hampshire University in fourth with 16 points, and just behind the Eagles, Franklin Pierce University, with five points, was picked to finish last again.
Entering his fourth season as the program's head coach,
Tim Richter returns nearly his entire core from a year ago, which consisted of 12 freshmen and only five graduates in
Ryan Mosher,
Drew Blodgett,
Tommy Buis,
Trey Deloury, and
Zach Richards. Needing more depth behind senior goalie
Benjamin Cunneen, who had a record-breaking year in 2024-25, Richter added
John Simon while
Sam Edmands returned for his sophomore season.
Last year's leading goal scorers,
Baxter Kimball,
Joe Santoro, and
Scotty Swain, will all be back, as will all 20 goal scorers from last year. Sophomore defenseman
Aidan Canady led the team last year with 17 points, recording two goals and 15 assists, followed by Kimball at eight goals and seven assists for 15 points, and now senior forward
Jacob Howell with three goals and eight assists for 11 points, as the only three Eagles with double-digit points.
