WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the second straight season and fourth time in program history, Post University Baseball has landed a player on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-East Region Team as senior right-handed pitcher
Brennan Holligan was named to the list for starting pitchers as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Last year, outfielder
DJ Caron was named to the All-East Region Preseason Team for the NCBWA for outfielders as Holligan will now join his former teammate along with
Robert Olah who made the list in 2023, and Rosario Missiti from the 2019 team as the four players to receive the preseason honor in the history of the program.
Holligan's nod on the list should not come as much of a surprise as the right-hander was named First Team All-Conference in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference last season along with D2CCA, NCBWA, and ABCA/Rawlings NCAA All-East Region Second Team as well as academically being named to the CACC All-Academic Team and CSC Academic All-District Team.
During the CACC Championship campaign for the Eagles, Holligan had a stellar season which included a 7-3 record overall with the seven wins tying him for third all-time in program history for single-season wins and a 2.70 earned run average. The senior appeared in 14 games while making six starts for Post and pitching three complete games across 60 innings in which he allowed just 18 earned runs and held a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 61 punch outs to 23 free passes.
In total, Holligan faced 250 batters, holding them to just a .239 batting average and 10 extra-base hits while giving up less than a hit per inning pitched at 60 total hits on the season. The right-hander was also responsible for manufacturing two shutouts and two saves during his 2024 season.
