TOWNSEND, Mass. -- Kicking off their 2024-25 campaign, Post University Men's Golf essentially had a brand new starting five compared to last fall at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational, an event they won a year ago which kicked off their run of three consecutive tournament wins to start the fall. However, after the first round of this year's invite, the Eagles find themselves towards the bottom of the pack, shooting 27-over-par with a 307 team score which put them in eighth place while Assumption University and Dominican (N.Y.) battle for first tied at 14-over-par.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Senior Joe Ensign led the way for the Eagles on day one, shooting two-over-par with a 72 overall placing himself in a tie with four other golfers for seventh place. Junior Miles Maresch was close behind him at seven-over-par at 77 overall followed by senior Amal Jha at eight-over-par with 78 strokes played in a seven-way tie for 35th in the middle of the pack.

Junior Nathan Leonard found himself in the mix of the starting five for Post, shooting 10-over-par at 80 overall to be tied for 44th place while freshman newcomer Florian Schimek rounded things out for the Eagles with a 15-over-par performance that netted him 56th place in the first round at 85 strokes.

Saint Anselm College's Riley Reardon holds a three-stroke lead over Assumption's Ethan Beauchemin and Wilmington's Sacha Brown who are even with par heading into Tuesday's final round. On the overall leaderboard, the Greyhounds and Dominican (N.Y.) are tied for first at 14-over-par while Wilmington and Adelphi University lurk close behind at 15-over-par and 17-over-par respectively in third and fourth place.

Just ahead of Post is Saint Anselm College at 19-over-par followed by a two-way tie for sixth between Bentley and Franklin Pierce University at 22-over-par followed by the Eagles in that eighth slot at 27-over-par which puts them just one stroke ahead of Felician University at 28-over-par.
