Three From Men's Golf Named to PING NCAA East All-Region Team

WATERBURY, Conn. -- As Post University Men's Golf prepares for their first NCAA National Championship appearance since the 2011-12 season, the awards continued to roll in for the Eagles late on Tuesday night. Graduate student Bill Koch, senior Ethan Phillips, and junior Joe Ensign were all named to the PING NCAA East All-Region Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The honor marks the third straight season in which Post has had at least one golfer on the PING NCAA East All-Region Team and with three golfers making the list, it is the most players in program history to make the team in a single year.

For Koch, he is no stranger to being on the All-Region team as this is his second straight season being named to it after making it last year while also being a PING DII All-American Team Honorable Mention as well. The graduate student was also on the CACC All-Conference Team and the CACC Player of the Year which was announced at the end of April.

But he was not alone in being a familiar face on the team as Phillips has also made All-Region twice now with his other appearance came during the 2021-22 season along with fellow senior Ian Wivestad in a year where two Eagles made the All-Region team which tied the single-season record for Post.

The final golfer from the Eagles was Ensign who came on this spring from Central Connecticut State University and made an instant impact in the starting five for Head Coach Michael Erickson's team. Ensign finished in the top three at the Hartford Hawks Spring Invitational, fourth in the Penmen Spring Invitational, 47th at the NCAA Regional Preview, and 11th overall last week at the NCAA Regional

Men's Golf will be down in Florida next week in search of their first NCAA National Championship at the National event which gets underway on Tuesday.
