WINGATE, N.C. -- Its been just over five months since the last time Post University Men's Golf has gotten out on the course until yesterday for the first two rounds of the Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational down in Wingate, North Carolina. After a rought start to the day saw the Eagles finish with a 309 as a team, 21-over-par, a five-stroke improvement in round two saw Post move up to 15th overall heading into the final round today at 37-over-par.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After the first 18 holes of the day, the Eagles found themselves at 21-over-par in 17th place out of 18 teams with only Southern New Hampshire University behind them at 32-over-par. Junior Amal Jha had the best first round for Post at four-over-par which tied him for 50th place with seven other golfers. Right behind him in a tie for 58th place were seniors Jace Carlisle and Ian Wivestad at five-over-par and then down in a tie for 83rd place was senior Ethan Phillips with a seven-over-par finish.

Freshman Braden Shea rounded out the five golfer list for Post with an eight-over-par finish that placed him in an tie for 86th while sophomore Miles Maresch, who did not count towards the team score, was tied for 90th at 10-over-par. While Shea and Maresch matched their first round scores in round two which placed them tied for 86th and solely in 94th place respectively, the top four Eagle golfers would all see some shuffling.

Going from a 77 to a 74, Wivestad would be the top Post golfer by the end of the day with a seven-over-par which gave him a tie for 45th place. Among golfers from the Northeast, the senior was the top player in the standings while the Eagles as a team finished the highest out of the Northeast teams in Wilmington and Southern New Hampshire.

Phillips would also see improvements in his round two score, finishing with four less strokes than round one to put himself tied for 64th with a 10-over-par day. Carlisle would be tied with Phillips after matching his first round score which put him at 10-over-par too. After leading the Eagles in round one, Jha would slip back to round out the trio of players tied at 10-over-par after shooting a 78 in round two.
