Connor McCowell was named NE10 Player of the Week, junior goalie
Benjamin Cunneen earned NE10 Goalie of the Week, and freshman forward
Scotty Swain took home NE10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The closest Post had come to sweeping the NE10 Weekly Awards was January 23rd, 2023 when Nick Weber was named both the Player and Rookie of the Week for the Eagles.
Connor McCowell - Player of the Week - Men's Ice Hockey
McCowell had a big weekend for the Eagles, scoring his first goal of the season on an empty netter against Assumption University to help Post secure a 5-3 win over the Greyhounds, snapping a 12-game winless streak in the head-to-head matchup. McCowell also had an assist in that game on the first goal of the game before scoring the first goal on Saturday to help Post sweep Assumption with a 2-1 win, finishing the weekend with two goals, an assist, and three total points.
Benjamin Cunneen - Goalie of the Week - Men's Ice Hockey
Cunneen won his third and fourth games in his last five starts for the Eagles, helping Post sweep Assumption University over the weekend at home for the first time in program history. In Friday's 5-3 win, Cunneen made 51 saves before stopping 43 shots in Saturday's 2-1 win to complete the sweep with a total of 94 saves on 98 total attempts by the Greyhounds. Cunneen is now 4-2-0 in net for Post this season and has made 40-plus saves in each of his last four starts.
Scotty Swain - Rookie of the Week - Men's Ice Hockey
Swain helped the Eagles secure a weekend sweep against Assumption University, scoring the game-winning goal on Saturday to propel Post to a 2-1 victory following their 5-3 win on Friday night in which Swain had an assist on the fourth goal of that affair to help be part of the game-winning goal. Swain finished the weekend with one goal and one assist in the 2-0-0 weekend for the Eagles.
Post University will return to action after the new year on January 3rd, 2025 when they take on SUNY Morrisville at 4:00 pm from the Sports Center of Connecticut. The two teams last squared off during the 2022-23 season in New York where the Eagles got their first win in the all-time series, 3-2.
