WATERBURY, Conn. -- With the release of the 2024 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference teams and major awards, Post University Men's Soccer saw some familiar faces make their names on the list, but the biggest of them all was graduate defender Felix Nassen as he earned himself his second consecutive Defensive Player of the Year for the conference. Joining Nassen on the CACC All-Conference First Team was graduate midfielder Luca Dettoli while graduate goalkeeper Ricardo Moreno and senior defender Felipe Garcia were named to the CACC All-Conference Second Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.

For Nassen, the CACC Defensive Player of the Year award adds to his already long list of accolades he has earned since joining the team in 2022. Last season, the then-senior was not only Defensive Player of the Year, but CACC All-Conference First Team like he is this season, CCA All-East Region First Team, D2CCA Men's Soccer All-America Third Team, United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team, and CACC All-Academic as well as CSC Academic All-District Team. 

During the 2024 season, Nassen was already racked up three Defensive Player of the Week honors for the CACC as well as two CACC Weekly Honor Roll mentions. In 15 games played this season, the graduate student has played 1,318 minutes so far and tacked on three assists to his resume while helping the Post defense pitch eight shutouts when he has played en route to their fourth consecutive CACC Regular Season Title. 

Nassen was joined this season on the First Team by Dettoli, who coming back from an injury suffered towards the end of last season, came back to help lead Post to that regular season crown as well as win one CACC Player of the Week on September 9th. In 17 games played this year, Dettoli has been responsible for a career-high four goals for the Eagles along with assists on three more goals for a total of 11 points. The graduate student has one game-winning goal, is 1-for-2 on penalty kicks this season in 1,200 total minutes played, and the Eagles are 3-0-1 in matches that Dettoli has scored in this season. 

Down on the CACC All-Conference Second Team was Felipe Garcia, being named to the CACC All-Conference roster for the second straight year after being First Team last season. Garcia netted one CACC Defensive Player of the Week honor back on September 23rd and has appeared in 11 matches this season while starting 10 of them. The senior has played in 777 minutes while recording one assist and during his matches on the pitch, the Eagles have had four shutout victories this fall.

Rounding out the foursome of Post players on the All-Conference teams was Second Team recipient Ricardo Moreno who has manned the goal for most of the season. Moreno just won his first CACC Goalkeeper of the Week this past week while also making the CACC Weekly Honor Roll three times over the course of the season as well. Coming to the team this fall, Moreno has started in 14 matches while playing 15 overall and led the Eagles to a 10-2-2 record during that time with eight shutouts. The graduate student has 49 saves on 122 shots faced for a 0.85 goals-against average while allowing just 12 goals in 1,275 minutes this season heading into the CACC Semifinals on Wednesday. 

Post University will take on fifth-seeded Wilmington University on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at LaMoy Field in the CACC Semifinals with a trip to the CACC Championship hosted in Wilmington, Delaware by Wilmington University on the line. On the road earlier this season, the Eagles captured their first conference win of the season against the Wildcats, winning 4-1, behind goals from four different players.
