WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the first time in her career, senior defenseman Sajel Desai was named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Defensive Player of the Week for her performance at Saint Michael's College last weekend while junior goalie Hannah Saunders earned NEWHA Honor Roll recognition for Post University Women's Ice Hockey as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Desai had a solid start to the NEWHA slate of games against Saint Michael's College this weekend as the Eagles left Vermont with a 1-1 split to start conference play. Desai blocked three total shots and was on the ice for two of the four goals the Eagles scored this weekend, giving her a +2 across the two games while also helping hold the Purple Knights offense to one goal.

Hannah Saunders - Honor Roll - Women's Ice Hockey
Saunders pitched her first shutout of the season and her fourth career shutout, setting the new program record for the Eagles during their 1-1 weekend against Saint Michael's College. Earning that 4-0 shutout win on Friday, Saunders made 25 saves to earn the win before making 20 saves on 21 shots on Saturday in a 1-0 loss to the Purple Knights. Saunders closed the weekend having played in 118:29 allowing one goal on 46 shots which was good for a 0.51 goals-against average.

Post University will face a tough test on Thursday and Friday against Colgate University who is currently ranked eighth nationally in the most recent USCHO National Poll. This will be the first matchup for the two teams in program history.
