Ethan Phillips took Player of the Week honors while freshman
Braden Shea notched his second straight Rookie of the Week honor as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
Phillips had another outstanding week for the Eagles who won their second consecutive invitational for the first time since the 2010 season. The Bowmanville, Ontario native who finished tied for first last week at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational, placed second overall individually after shooting five-under-par with a final score of 139 at the SNHU Granite State Opener. Phillips notched a 69 on day one (three-under-par) followed by a 70 on day two (two-under-par) and only trailed sophomore Evan Rollins from Southern New Hampshire University for the individual crown, Rollins finished with a 135 (nine-under-par).
Shea continued a positive start to his collegiate career for Men's Golf, recording a 152 at theinvite to finish tied for 32nd overall and just eight strokes over par. In both days of the event, Shea recorded a 76 on the course (four-over-par) but his performance, like Phillips', proved key to helping Post University squeak out their second consecutive invitational victory to start the year, recording back-to-back invite wins for the first time since 2010 as the Eagles were able to capture the title by one stroke over Assumption University with a 581 team score.
The Eagles will play in their final invitational ahead of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship during the first week of October when they attend the SNHU Penman Fall Invitational at the Concord Country Club in Concord, New Hampshire next Monday and Tuesday.
