Matt Goehrig was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Player of the Week after his performance during the week of March 20-26.
Goehrig, who earlier in the week was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week, had a monster performance at the plate.
During the Eagles 4-1 week, Goehrig batted .467 (7-for-15) hitting three home runs, one double, one triple, seven runs and 13 RBI. He had a 1.267 slugging percentage and a .550 on-base percentage. Goehrig has also hit a home run in three consecutive games.
In the second game of a doubleheader in a 13-3 win over Dominican on March 24, Goehrig went 3-for-3 with three runs, and six RBI, including a three-run homer and a three-run triple.
During game one in a doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom on March 26, Goehrig hit a towering solo home run while also pitching five innings and striking out five. In game two against the Lightning, Goehrig went 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI, including a grand slam in the first inning during the Eagles' 14-5 win.
This season Goehrig is batting .333 (15-for-45) with five home runs, 22 RBI and 14 runs with an .800 slugging percentage. He is currently second all-time in Post history with 22 home runs.
Eagles Making Noise In Polls
After a successful start to the season, the Eagles have been getting some attention in the polls. In the NCBWA East Region Poll Top 10, the Eagles received five votes, just out of the top ten. Franklin Pierce is currently ranked first, followed by the University of New Haven and Pace.
The Eagles came in ranked third in the New England College Baseball Coaches Division II Poll, receiving five votes. Southern New Hampshire was picked first, followed by Southern Connecticut State University.
