Devyn Amundson Looks to Anchor Net for Women's Ice Hockey

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Although it was announced a few months ago locally for Devyn Amundson, NLI Signing Day last month made it official for the goaltender hailing from Cypress Country, Alberta, Canada who is ready to join Post University Women's Ice Hockey for the 2023-24 season. Amundson will provide Head Coach Gretchen Silverman's team with another goalie in the wake of senior goalie Grace Glasrud's departure from graduating at Post come the end of the season.

Amundson has been a multi-sport athlete growing up, playing 10 years of varsity soccer, five years of club/travel basketball, and four teams on varsity track where she had the most success outside of hockey. The goaltender earned gold medals at the Senior Girls Annual Talons Invitational Cross Country race in 2022, 800 Meter Zone Track & Field Championships, the 800 Meter race, and a silver medal in the 1,500 Meter race. She was also named Most Outstanding Intermediate Girls Track & Field athlete at Eagle Butte High School during the 2021-22 academic year.

In 2018, Amundson played on the Lethbridge Cyclones Bantam Elite U15 AA/AAA team and was selected to represent the South Division at the 2019 Alberta Challenge. In 2019, she would move up to the Southern Express U18 AA Team and as a rookie was tied for second in the Southern Division for the most shutouts in the Alberta Female Hockey League. Amundson played in 12 games going 6-5-1 with four shutouts while allowing just 22 goals against for a 1.84 goals against average. In the playoffs, she played a period in which she made 11 saves on 13 attempts.

From there, Amundson would spend three seasons with the South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 Female Prep Team. The COVID-19 pandemic canceled games for the 2020-21 season, but in the following two seasons she would go a combined 14-12-2 in 28 regular season games with four shutouts, a .920 save percentage, and a 2.31 goals against average. After going 0-1-0 in the 2021-22 playoffs with a 5.00 GAA and .861 save percentage, Amundson would rebound the next year putting together a perfect 2-0-0 performance with a 1.00 GAA and .964 save percentage.

Now playing for Ontario Hockey Academy Tardiff this year, Amundson has appeared in 24 games with a 10-8-3 record, 2.49 GAA, and a .912 save percentage. Over the course of her last three seasons, the Canadian has a 24-20-5 record in regular season play with four shutouts and 2-1-0 record in the playoffs.

Coach Silverman spoke highly of Amundson saying, "Devyn's athleticism and sound skills will continue the legacy of strong goaltending for the Post Women's Ice Hockey team."
