WATERBURY, Conn. -- A phenomenal first season for junior outside hitter
Caley Harper was recognized by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on Tuesday morning as the Castle Rock, Colorado native was the lone Post University Women's Volleyball player to be named to the CACC All-Conference team, garnering Second Team honors as announced by the league office.
The honor comes as no surprise for the junior who made her impact instantly felt on Head Coach
Tiffany Verni's team in her second year at the helm. Harper finished third in the conference with an average of 3.37 kills per set in the regular season and third in overall kills with 377 on the year, a mark that put her tied for 46th in all of NCAA Division II.
Having a total of 1,161 total attempts throughout the 31 regular season matches the Eagles played, Harper would attack at a .194 hitting percentage while adding on 33 service aces, and nine assists offensively. On the defensive end, she would continue to shine with 248 digs, averaging 2.21 digs per set, and 20 total blocks which all helped her accumulate 424.5 total points for Post. With that point total Harper was also ranked third in the conference in that category as well.
The 2023 season for Harper culminated in breaking the record for most consecutive matches with double-digit kills set by
Madelynn Boop as the junior would set the new mark at 12 straight matches, a stretch which included two straight matches with 20-plus kills and seven matches with double-digit digs. Harper ended the regular season with a career-best performance finishing with 26 kills, a .279 hitting percentage, and 11 digs in Post University's five-set win at home against Georgian Court, her 26-kill performance was the most kills in a single match for an Eagle since Boop had 30 kills back in 2021.Â
Post University is on the road to take on Jefferson University in the CACC Women's Volleyball Quarterfinals this evening down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 6:00 PM.Â
