Celena Mickevicius Wins NEWHA Rookie of the Week Award, Two Eagles Make Honor Roll

WATERBURY, Conn. -- After helping lead the charge on Saturday afternoon for Post University Women's Ice Hockey to pick up the sweep, freshman forward Celena Mickevicius has been named New England Women's Hockey Alliance Rookie of the Week while junior defenseman Angeline Pitter earned Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll and sophomore goalie Hannah Saunders made it onto the Goaltender of the Week Honor Roll.

Celena Mickevicius - Rookie of the Week
Mickevicius played a huge part in a perfect 2-0-0 weekend for the Eagles against St. Michael's College at home. Finishing the two-game set with her first collegiate goal and two assists for a total of three points, Mickevicius tallied both of her assists on Friday, helping to score the first and third goals of the 3-1 affair. On Saturday, the freshman would net her first collegiate goal with 10:18 left in regulation which would prove to be the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win for the Eagles who moved to 3-2-0 in NEWHA play this season.

Angeline Pitter - Defensive Player of the Week - Honor Roll
Pitter made her impact felt for the Eagles this weekend against St. Michael's, recording an assist along with two blocked shots while anchoring a Post defense that allowed just one goal across 120 total minutes against the Purple Knights. Pitter would get her assist, the second of the season, on the opening goal of the weekend which was scored by Maddy Noonan in a 3-1 win for the Eagles before helping the Post defense stifle a St. Michael's squad that registered 37 shots on goal in the 1-0 win on Saturday. In total, the Post defense blocked 14 shots over the two-game weekend.

Hannah Saunders - Goaltender of the Week - Honor Roll
Saunders recorded her second career shutout on Saturday afternoon, holding St. Michael's College scoreless in a 1-0 win for Post University Women's Ice Hockey which helped them notch their second straight win over the Purple Knights and start 3-2-0 start to conference play. Getting her first win in net as well, Saunders faced 37 total shots from the St. Michael's offense, all of which she would turn away across her 60 minutes in net. After only facing five shots in the first period, the sophomore would be hammered with 15 second period shots and 17 third period shots as the Eagles held on for the 1-0 win after a late goal from Celena Mickevicius.
