WATERBURY, Conn. -- After a historical game over the weekend for Post University Women's Ice Hockey, junior forward
Julia Wysocki was named New England Women's Hockey Alliance Player of the Week, marking the first time this season an Eagle has earned the honor and second weekly award this season a Post player has earned this season after junior defenseman
Caisey Van Den Oetelaar earned Defensive Player of the Week at the beginning of the year.
The honor comes after Wysocki turned in an historic weekend for Eagles, becoming just the second player in program history to record a hat trick as well as four points in a game. Additionally, the junior is the first Eagle in program history to partake in all goals scored by the team when they score three-plus goals in a game. Against Assumption University on Saturday, Wysocki started her day with a goal and an assist but the Eagles found themselves down 4-2 entering the third period.
Wysocki would change that with two goals in the final three minutes of regulation, scoring the game-tying goal with her team on a 6-on-4 advantage in which she redirected the shot into the net with 0.7 seconds left in the third. Wysocki finished the game with three goals, an assist, and four points in a game the Eagles would drop 5-4 in overtime to the Greyhounds. She would also tack on three blocked shots and win 14-of-19 faceoffs she took in the game.
Post University returns home for the first time in nearly a month to take on Saint Michael's College at the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton, Connecticut at 3:30 PM on Friday before taking on the same Knights' team on Saturday with puck drop slated for 1:15 PM that day.
