WATERTOWN, Conn. -- A historic fall season for Post University Men's Golf is on the verge of becoming one of the best seasons in program history should everything fall into place tomorrow for the Eagles. After the first two rounds of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship at the Watertown Golf Club in Watertown, Connecticut, Post University currently leads Goldey-Beacom College by a single stroke and Dominican (N.Y.) by 14 strokes heading into the final round on Tuesday. If the Eagles win the conference title, it would be their first since the 2009 season, their third consecutive title that year.
A pair of Eagles are also fighting for the chance to win the CACC Championship individual title as well with graduate student
Bill Koch and senior
Ethan Phillips both sitting two-under-par after two rounds, trailing only junior Hunter McGee for the lead. McGee finished the first two rounds with a three-under-par performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Post University wasted no time jumping out to an early lead in the first round of the championship, going up by five strokes on the Lightning after a solid first round from their team of five. Koch would lead the entire field at that point after finishing four-under-par with a pair of Goldey-Beacom golfers behind him by a stroke at three-under-par in McGee and junior Camilo Samur.
Phillips would finish round one in the top five tied alongside fellow senior teammate
Ian Wivestad with an even finish and one off the pace of senior Tyler Cleaves from Wilmington University. Senior
Jace Carlisle and junior
Amal Jha were amongst those tied within the top 10 for the Eagles as Carlisle recorded a one-over-par performance while Jha sat at two-over-par.
As round two would get underway, Post University would start to pull away from Goldey-Beacom, at one point opening up a 10 stroke lead as a team before the Lightning would slowly work their way back to within one stroke by the end of the round.
Lead by a six-under-par effort from junior Pablo Saenz Avila and an even round from McGee, the Lightning stormed back into contention looking to capture back-to-back conference crowns with an overall even round as a team. Meanwhile, the Eagles would struggle to the tune of a four-over-par team effort as Koch finished with a two-over-par round as did Wivestad and Carlisle.
Jha would also fall back a stroke, finishing three-over-par in round two while Phillips improved from his even first round to record a two-under-par second round, being the only Eagle to notch an under par score in round two of the day.
Being in first place heading into the final round, Post University will now see all five of their golfers start between 10:00 AM and 10:36 AM alongside Goldey-Beacom College and Dominican (N.Y.).
