The Post University men's hockey team - in just its second season in the Northeast-10 - will compete for the conference championship on Saturday, March 5 against Assumption at 6 p.m. at The Worcester Ice Arena.
How They Got Here
The No. 4 seed Eagles are coming off of a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over top seed Southern New Hampshire University on March 1 thanks to a
Jake Raleigh goal at the 5:46 mark after tying the game on a
Brandon Crowther goal with 4:38 left in the third period to tie the game.
Brandon Brown had 51 saves in net. The win over the Penmen came on the heels of Post's first ever NE10 tournament win over Saint Michael's on February 26 with a 3-1 win at The Rinks at Shelton. In that game,
Niko Grollman scored twice for Post.
The third-seeded Greyhounds used four second period goals to defeat the seventh-seed Stonehill, 5-2 in the NE10 semifinals on March 1. Christopher Stalmok scored two goals for the Greyhounds in the game. In their first round game against Franklin Pierce on February 26, the Greyhounds held a 3-0 lead, but the Franklin Pierce Ravens rallied to tie the game in the third period. However, in overtime Robert Holyoke scored a game-winning goal at the 9:11 mark to give the Greyhounds the win.
2021-2022 Matchups
This will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season, with the Greyhounds winning twice. In their first matchup of the season at Assumption,
Connor Barter scored a game-winning goal at the 13:03 mark on a pass from
Kieran Gardner to give the Eagles the 5-4 win on November 6.
Evan Lugo scored twice in the game as the Eagles won their first NE10 game of the season.
On January 28, Dara Conneely of Assumption scored an overtime goal at 1:37 to give the Greyhounds the 3-2 win at The RInks at Shelton.
Patrick Murphy scored two goals for the Eagles in the game.
The following day, Assumption scored four goals in the final period - including two empty net goals in the final minute - in a 6-3 win.
Michael Karas, Barter and Gardner all scored for the Eagles.

Post is currently 11-14-1 and finished 7-9-1 during the NE10 regular season, a massive turnaround from their inaugural season in the NE10 when they finished 1-16-1 in the conference. The Eagles have five of their last six games, including both NE10 tournament wins. The Eagles had 15 different goal scorers this season including
John Krapian who led the Eagles with nine goals.
Patrick Murphy and
Evan Lugo had eight. Murphy was the team leader in assists with 12 and points with 20. He was also named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team. Murphy's 20 points tied him for 17th in the conference.
Brandon Brown was second in the NE10 in saves with 683. Eagles goalies have the second best save percentage in the NE10 at .901.
Against Franklin Pierce on Feb. 5th, Lugo became the school's all-time leading scorer in Post history in NCAA games. He has 76 points in his career. The Eagles had one hat trick this season, from freshman
Brandon Crowther who had one against Stonehill on Feb. 12. Post has had three games with five or more goals three times.Â

The Greyhounds finished third in the NE10 this season going 15-12-2 overall and 10-7-1 in the NE10. Assumption led the NE10 in goals with 98, eight more than the next team.They most recently won the NE10 tournament championship in 2016-2017 and won the regular season title in 2019-2020. The Greyhounds have three players in the top ten in points in the NE10. Robert Holyoke and Dante Maribito each have 27 points and are tied for fifth while Devan Sheth has 25 points. Holyoke and Sheth each have 14 goals to lead the Greyhounds. All three made the All-NE10 Second team. Ronny Paragallo made the All-Rookie team.
The Greyhounds have won their last four games and have had three instances this season where they won three or more games in a row. They scored a season-high eight goals in an 8-2 win over Saint Michael's on Jan. 8
