Box Score 2 Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Post University baseball team dropped a pair games to Queens College on Saturday, 13-12 and 5-3.
Post rallied from a 10-2 deficit in game one, thanks to a seven-run top of the fifth, highlighted by a three-run homer from
Matt Goehrig to make it a 10-7 game at the time. Post would score two more times on a fielder's choice from
Evan Cornwell as well as another when
Brycin Hernandez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Eagles tied the game with a solo homer from
Robert Olah in the top of the sixth.
Queens rallied in the bottom of the inning, taking a 13-10 lead after a an RBI single from Matt Filip and an RBI double from Joseph Leone.
The Eagles again attempted to mount a comeback as Goehrig hit his second homer of the game, a solo shot to make it a 13-11 game in the top of the eighth.Â
In the ninth, the Eagles scored one more on an RBI fielder's choice from Hernandez. However, the Eagles were unable to get a second run across, leaving two on base in the inning.
Goehrig finished the game going 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Olah was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Hunter Keller was 2-for-4 with two runs.
In game two - a seven inning game - the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second after a sac fly from Cornwell.
The Knights answered with two in the fourth, but the Eagles would plate one in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single from Olah.
Again in the sixth, the Eagles answered after the Knights scored in the top of the inning as
Jimmy Brennan hit a solo homer.
But, the Knights scored two in the top of the seventh on a two-run single from Jayson Rodopoulos to make it a 5-3 game. Post went down in order in the bottom of the inning.
Olah finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Jacob Tamburrino had five strikeouts in six innings for the Eagles.
Dylan Hughes and Dean Fazah combined for 13 strikeouts on the mound for the Knights
Post wraps up its Myrtle Beach trip with a game against New Haven on Sunday.
